This is the Privacy Policy of Interior Legal Pty Limited (ABN 42686205694) (“we”, “us” and when relating to us, “our”) which applies when you are using this website and engaging with Interior Legal to provide you with our Services.  This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time on our website and the updated version will apply.
 

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our contacts, customers, suppliers and employees (“you” and when relating to you, “your”) and complying with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).
 

In this policy we describe how we manage your personal information.


What personal information will we collect?

The kinds of personal information we collect include information that you provide to us including:

  • Your contact details, including your name, email address, address, phone number(s)

  • Information:

    • that you provide to us about your circumstances 

    • about what your legal requirements are and the services we provide

    • about communications we have with you 

    • if you're someone who will work with us as a prospective employee or contractor, about your qualifications, skills and work experience

    • if you're someone who will or may supply goods or services to us - about your business skills, products and prices. 
       

How and when will we collect this?
 

  • When you use our website, or contact us with a question or enquiry, or attend a seminar when we're presenting or hosting

  • When you instruct us to act for you and we open a file for you

  • Whenever you interact with us and provide us with personal information

Where we can, we'll collect personal information about you, directly from you.  However, there may be times when we've collected information about you from a third party including a client, third party information provider, the courts or someone responding to our questions or inquiries. 

 

Our obligation to collect your full name and address


We're required to collect the full name and address of our clients by the Solicitors Rules made under the Legal Profession Act 2004 (NSW).

 

We also need to have accurate name and address information for us to comply with the trust account record-keeping requirements in the Legal Profession Regulation 2005 (NSW) and to comply with our duty to the courts.

If you're a client and don't provide us with your name and address, unfortunately we can't act for you. 

 

Why do we collect, hold, disclose or use personal information?
 

  • to respond to your questions 

  • provide legal services and carry out your instructions

  • employ and engage individuals and third parties

  • monitor or improve our services 

  • let you know about any legal services that may be of interest to you

  • when we're using services to support the legal services we provide to you

Who might the personal information be disclosed to? 
 

  • Subject to our confidentiality obligations, we may share relevant personal information with: 

    • Parties related to a matter you have with us, government authorities and service providers as reasonably required to provide services to you 

    • Third party service providers who help with archival, auditing, accounting, legal, business consulting, website or tech services. 
       

  • If required to do so by law, or where permitted by the Privacy Act - for example where we have reasonable grounds to suspect unlawful activity, misconduct of a serious nature, that relates to our functions or activities, or in response to a subpoena, court order etc. 

Will information be shared overseas, and what security measures do you have in place?

Not unless we have agreed this with you, or where it's necessary for us to provide legal services to you. 

We take reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

Access, Correction and Updating Personal Information

You can contact us to access, correct or update your personal information. Unless there are confidentiality restrictions or some other restriction on giving access to the information and we are permitted to refuse you access under the Privacy Act, we will try to make your information available to you within 30 days.  Examples of where we might not be able to provide you with access to your personal information include where it might impact the privacy of others, it is commercially sensitive, or where it may be unlawful to provide access. 

Where you ask us to correct your personal information we'll do so or note your request for amendment if we consider this more appropriate.  We won't charge you to make a request for access but may charge to actually provide access based on the costs relating to obtaining and providing the material.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can seek a review by contacting the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner using the information available at http://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.

From time to time we might send you communications, invitations, or legal updates about our services. Contact us if you'd like to unsubscribe or follow the instructions set out in the communications.
